The Field of Thor (Þórsmörk) - Weekend hike

About the hike

Þórsmörk (Thor’s field or forest) is an amazing lush oasis surrounded by glaciers, glacier tongues and the incredible highlands. It is one of the most beautiful places in Iceland.

It offers a such diverse and mind blowing beauty that no camera can do it justice. Þórsgata is a quite new hiking route around this area.


The tour is going to last 3 days and we will stay the night in cottages or tents and use this as a base during the stay at Þórsmörk.


We will offer optional hike on Friday evening and on Saturday we will hike Þórsgatan, which is a 8-9 h hike. On Sunday its a smaller hike around the area. We will also enjoy yoga together mornings and evenings.


Included:
Pick-up and drop-off from pick-up point. Breakfast, Dinner and a professional guide. Two days stay in accommodation hotel or cottages.


What to Bring:
Hiking boots and clothing (not cotton), waterproof clothes in case the weather changes, snacks and water.

Camping: 70.000 ISK
Price if you arrive in your own car: Camping 60.000 ISK.
Cottages 70.000 ISK.


The minimum participation is 10 people.
The maximum participation is 30 people.

Terms in the COVID situation:
It can be revoked 48 hours in advance due to circumstances related to the COVID condition and if injuries have occurred. No refund due to weather forecast. If a participant does not show up for departure on time, he or she is not entitled to a refund of the trip. See Less

Högnhöfði is a majestic mountain in the Golden circle route. Reaching up 1002 m, it is quite the challenge. The name implies the head of a male cat and you can see the ears of the cat when looking in the west direction, standing on the peak of Högnhöfði.

The bus will be waiting for us at Korputorg at 8. This is a day day trip to Snæfellsnes where the bus will be parked on Öndverðarnes while we hike into the lava field. Grashóll, where there are caves in two directions, one lies under the crater itself and there you can stay for a while.
